In the spirit of giving, today I have a gift for all PN readers, something extremely useful and exceptionally cool…a 5-day video course: Precision Nutrition for Fat Loss.

And the best part? It’s totally free.

If I do say so myself, this course is probably better than 90% of the seminars I’ve ever attended on the subjects of exercise and nutrition (and probably better than a few I’ve given myself, too).

To check out the free course, just click the links below.

Women’s version: Fat Loss Crash Course for Women

Men’s version: Fat Loss Crash Course for Men

Why we created these courses

We wanted to create a definitive resource for fat loss, a place where you could learn everything you need to know to start losing fat immediately. I think we’ve done that, but you can decide for yourself.

I see a LOT of nonsense being published about fat loss these days, both on the web and in the mainstream media.

And at PN, we’re in a unique position to set the record straight about what it REALLY takes — because in our Lean Eating Coaching Program, we’ve essentially conducted the world’s largest fat loss research project.

For the last 4 years, we’ve kept enormous amounts of data on thousands of clients, tracking nearly every measurable statistic available, from body composition to psychometric markers.

And from that data, we can draw some clear conclusions: to lose fat rapidly — but also permanently — clients need to adopt a very specific approach to fat loss.

Well, in this free fat loss course, I share that approach with you. And most importantly, I show you exactly how to do it, right away.

What I cover in the course

The 5 things you need to know about nutrition — the same things we’ve taught our clients to help them collectively lose over 150,000 pounds of fat.

Exactly what foods to eat to lose fat — at every meal

How to make delicious meals with a few simple ingredients

The best types of exercise for fat loss — don’t waste your time on anything else

Exactly how much time you need to exercise — no guesswork here, we share the real data with you

Supplements for fat loss: the two different approaches you can take

Which four supplements we use with our clients when fat loss is the goal

The one crucial reason why people fail at fat loss, and the two simple things you can do to make sure you succeed

Last word

At PN, we’re out to change the way people think about fat loss — to drown out the noise and the theories and share what we know really works. And this course is the next step.

In it, I present some ideas that can be hard for people to accept. I know, because for the last year I’ve been teaching this material to fitness professionals around the world, and I see their reactions. Mostly, it’s a mix of excitement and anxiety.

Why? Because as you’ll see in the course, not only can fat loss be much simpler than the experts think — it has to be much simpler. Otherwise, it doesn’t work.

To get the most out of the course, I encourage you to come in with an open mind and consider that what I teach in the lessons might just be true.

Because, well, it is.

This is how the 2% who succeed at fat loss actually do it. This is how to lose fat without overhauling your life.

To read more about the free 5-day video fat loss course, and to take it, click the links below:

Men’s version: Fat Loss Crash Course for Men

From all of us at PN, happy holidays to you — and here’s hoping these courses will help you get in the best shape of your life in 2012.

Here's how to see what people are saying, talk to current clients, coaches -- and me -- and get your questions answered personally.

Questions, questions, questions?

On January 4th, we accept a small group of new clients into the Lean Eating Coaching Program, our fat loss coaching program where you work with us personally to get in the best shape of your life. And this time, it’s bigger than ever, with $75,000 in prize money on the line for the best transformations in the group.

Each time we open the program to new clients, we get tons of questions about how it works, what we teach, what to expect, how to prepare — and especially this one:

“Is it right for me?”

(That one’s especially relevant if you have a special condition or circumstance.)

We take great care in personally answering every question we get about Lean Eating. So this time we’ve done something really cool. We’ve created a new forum where you can ask us ANY question about our coaching program and get a detailed answer — and about 90% of them, I answer myself.

You’ll also find all the other Lean Eating coaches on there, as well as past and current clients — and you can talk to them directly, anonymously if you like. So you’ll have access to anything you could possibly want to know about how we coach our clients so successfully.

How to ask a question:

If you already have a precisionnutrition.com account, just go to the Interested in Lean Eating 2011? forum and ask away.

Ask JB, the PN team and past / current clients any Lean Eating question in our open forum.

If you don’t, you can create an account for free.

Or you can just browse around and see what questions other people are asking — that’s okay with us too.

We’re here to answer any questions you may have — just as we are for our clients in Lean Eating. Drop in, post a note about yourself and what you’re looking for, and we’ll give you personal feedback about the program and whether it fits your specific needs.

See you on the forums.

The next Lean Eating group kicks off in just a few weeks on Wed Jan 4th. And we’ve upped the ante: 75K in prize money. Can $75,000 help you lose fat? You bet it can.

The 2012 edition of the Lean Eating Coaching Program is going bigger than ever: $75,000 in prize money for the best body transformations in the group.

Yesterday, we gave away $50,000 in prize money to the 44 clients with the most inspiring transformations in our Lean Eating Coaching Program.

And today, we’ve just raised the stakes: this time, it’s $75,000.

$75,000 in prize money for the best transformations in the group, including two $25,000 grand prizes.

In our Lean Eating Coaching Program, we’ve helped thousands of our clients dramatically change their bodies — and their lives. I’m not talking about people who have read our articles or books; I’m talking about the thousands of clients who have paid us to coach them for a period of 12 months, exclusively online in our private clients-only website. We don’t sell supplements, we don’t accompany clients to the gym and we don’t count their sets and reps.

All we do is get results. And we do it better than anyone.

Lessons from the world’s largest body transformation study.

Recently I gave a seminar to a group of elite fitness professionals from one of the world’s most successful gym chains who were taking our Precision Nutrition Certification. In it I shared what our research has shown are the 12 key factors in a successful body transformation. And one of the first ones that needs to be taken care of is this:

Lean Eating Lesson #1: To lose fat, clients need a big incentive to get started.

“Seems obvious,” you might say. But is it? Really, how often are people provided with a compelling, positive incentive to lose weight? Almost never, in my experience — and that’s the problem.

From what I can tell, most people just get lectured all the time about how they look, or about how they’ll be stricken by all kinds of terrible diseases and die if they don’t start to eat better. Personally, that kind of hysterical negativity doesn’t motivate me. I just find it condescending and kind of annoying.

I need something positive. When people start lecturing me about all the bad stuff that will happen to me if I don’t do what they say, I just get turned off and stop paying attention — even if they have the best of intentions.

On the other hand, give me something to shoot for, something to win? That works for me. And it turns out, it works for lots and lots of other people too.

In fact, that’s the approach we use in Lean Eating: we give you something inspiring to aim for.

The Lean Eating Approach to Motivation: Money!

In our experience, big, inspiring goals are much easier to achieve when something big is at stake.

So that’s why we put our money where our mouth is. We put up real cash prizes for our Lean Eating clients. The best body transformations win big prizes.

And this year will be the biggest yet: $75,000 in prize money.

Here’s how it breaks down:

Men

Women

Grand Prize

1 x $25,000

1 x $25,000

First Runner Up

1 x $2,500

1 x $2,500

Second Runner Up

1 x $2,500

1 x $2,500

Honorable Mention

15 x $500

15 x $500

That’s a lot of prizes, the most we’ve ever given away, and seeing how motivated past clients have been, I fully expect this to be our best group yet.

And here’s the beauty: clients win no matter what.

Lean Eating is designed to make losing fat awesome. Basically, only three things happen in Lean Eating:

1. If it doesn’t work, it’s free. If you follow the program at least 80% of the time and at the end you’re not happy with the results, we’ll give your money back. All of it. Every penny. You get to decide if the program was worth it. Why do we do this? Because we stand behind our product. And we’re confident you’ll end up leaner, stronger, healthier and happier than you’ve ever been.

2. If you do a good job, you get in the best shape of your life. Follow the Lean Eating program, and you will get the body you’re after, plain and simple. That’s what people are looking for: something that truly works. And that’s what Lean Eating delivers. You walk out in the best shape of your life.

3. And if you do a great job, you get in the best shape of your life AND you can win serious coin. Bonus: if you really kick butt in this, you might even win a bunch of cash at the end too. Which, for example, you could arrange in a big pile in your backyard and swim in with your new-found body. Or you could take a stack of bills from your winnings, and flip through them ever so slowly, letting the sound of Benjamin Franklin lull you to sleep at night.

(Or like one past winner, you could instantly pay off your credit card debt. I prefer my ideas, but I guess that’s kinda cool too.)

Question: What would you do with the money?

About The Lean Eating Coaching Program

A little background for anyone relatively new to Precision Nutrition. Once or twice a year, we accept new clients into the Lean Eating Coaching Program, where we coach small groups of men and women using the Precision Nutrition System and help them achieve the best fat loss results of their lives. The results, to date, have been nothing short of remarkable. Tens of thousands of pounds of fat lost, and over 3,000 lives changed in the process.

Group coaching program for people who want to lose fat and become lean and healthy the Precision Nutrition way

Two dedicated programs: one for men — and after MANY requests – one exclusively for women

Taught by world-class nutrition instructors (including yours truly)

Detailed nutrition and exercise instruction

Private support forum with guaranteed responses from the PN coaches

$75,000 in total prize money for the best male and female fat loss transformations

Results guaranteed: you get in shape or it’s free.

Problem: severely limited enrollment. Solution: waiting list.

On Tuesday January 3rd at 12PM EST, we will accept a small number of new clients into the program.

We’ve always had more people interested in our coaching program than space available. But we have only enough staff to provide superb coaching to just a few hundred new clients each round. For example, the last Lean Eating coaching group sold out in 24 hours.

So we have an issue: how to decide who gets in. My solution? Reward the most eager, the most motivated, because in my experience they make the best clients.

That’s why we created the waiting list.

How to join the Lean Eating Waiting List and have a shot at the $75,000 in prize money

The Lean Eating waiting list is our way of figuring out who really wants in. First-come, first-served.

If you want to get in the best shape of your life and take a shot at the $75,000 in prize money, I strongly recommend you put your name on the waiting list because spots in the program typically sell out within hours and we won’t be accepting new clients again for at least 6 months.

So if you’re interested in being a part of the next Lean Eating coaching group, join the waiting list by adding your name and email below — because doing so earns you a chance to register for one of the coaching spots 24 hours before the general public.

Lean Eating coaches Jason and Krista surprise our winners with $10,000 checks.

And there’s more: we gave away $50,000 in prize money to over 40 clients in the last round alone. (Scroll down for the “View runners up and honorable mentions” link to see their transformations.) By the way, that’s just part of the over $100,000 in prize money PN gave away to clients this year. And tomorrow? Well, we’ve got an announcement for you — we’re upping the stakes. More on that in a sec.

People, you’re making this very difficult for us.

First, I’ve gotta say: this choice was really, really tough. The last round of Lean Eating produced some of the most outstanding transformations – physical and lifestyle transformations – I’ve seen in my entire life. We spent months painstakingly going through all of our finalists’ data, listening to the PN community, and scheduling long meetings with the PN Team.

(Our criteria for choosing were measurement data, participation data, client attitude, coach feedback, community voting, and in-house voting by the PN team as well.)

In the end, although we had dozens of potential winners, we had to choose. There could only be two.

I think that I will be processing my LE journey for a long time to come. Throughout my life I have drifted towards a healthy lifestyle and then back away from it. It was like I was always flirting with the idea of making the real commitment to change, to make a stand and say this is who I am, who I want to be, who I want the world to know me as.

This is the first time I feel like I have truly made an internal shift. When I began this journey almost one year ago, I felt defeated, claustrophobic, and in some ways stuck in my current physical and mental state of being. I knew that I needed something to jump-start a true change in the way that I was living. At that time I had been lurking on the PN forums for about a year and a half, too long really!

So I made the choice that changed my defeated attitude to the one where I feel capable of tackling challenges as they come, and even seeking out a few of my own. Truly, I have learned so many things about myself and my approach to life in the program.

In particular, I learned about self forgiveness. Perfection is not achievable. It’s an unrealistic goal that used to leave me paralyzed into inactivity. Now I am much better at getting done what can get done and moving on.

One of my favorite lessons is “What are you going to do in the next three minutes to move you toward your goal?” Some days this means just adding an extra cup of spinach to my meal to make sure that I am getting in an extra serving of veggies. And some-days it just means getting down for 20 quick push-ups. As long as the next three minutes get me closer to my goal.

I use this in other areas of my life now too. It helps me break up the house cleaning instead of putting it off. I do what I can in the next three minutes before deciding what to do next.

Even my marriage has become better throughout the year. My husband and I now have a common goal around creating an environment in our home that reflects and supports our active lifestyle.

Of course, I still have my days where I feel frustrated and overwhelmed. But they come farther apart these days, thanks to what I learned in the program. I’m 40 pounds leaner, but definitely not meaner.

David’s Experience in the Lean Eating Coaching Program

The mental shift that I have experienced during the past year of LE is phenomenal. My relationship with food has changed. I am not dieting. This is the way I am choosing to live my life.

I think for me the biggest benefit of this past year has been the mental aspect of the program. I have always been told that it’s OK to be big. I was an offensive lineman so being a big guy was an essential part of the job. I am not that same guy anymore. I want to be lean and fit for the rest of my life. The Lean Eating program has helped me to make tremendous strides in obtaining that goal.

There were some difficult times throughout the year, all ranging from family members not being supportive and becoming frustrated, to self doubt. The whole range of emotions came into play at one time or another during the course of the year.

With the help of my coach (Jay Bonn) and the LE assignments I was able to identify them and work through them without turning to food. The issue that I had with regard to my weight was a mental one. The Lean Eating program helped me identify that. It has given me the tools to get over those obstacles.

What I learned is that there will be ups and downs along the way. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Lasting change takes time, I did not get fat overnight so my journey to the lean and fit body that I will have will not occur overnight as well.

These are but a small portion of my experiences of the past year of Lean Eating. I cannot wait to see what the next year has to offer!

What would you do with $10,000 and the best body of your life?

Each year, our Lean Eating Coaching Program helps hundreds of clients get in the best shape of their lives, often with dramatic fat loss.

As a bonus incentive to keep our clients going when the going gets tough, we put up cash prizes for the best body transformation stories. Last round there was $50,000 up for grabs; for our next program – starting January 4th – the prize money is going up even higher.

And tomorrow, we’ll tell you exactly how much is at stake.

Our next Lean Eating Coaching Program begins in January 2012.

Because our coaches put so much into the Lean Eating Coaching Program, we can only coach a small number of people each round, and there are always more people who want in than spots available. So our solution is to offer the people who sign up for the presale list an early bird chance to register for a spot, 24 hours before the general public.

It’s our way of rewarding those who are the most eager and motivated, because in our experience they make the best clients. No matter where you are right now, we can help you get where you want to be — as long as you’re willing to take the first step.

So to get in the best shape of your life, put your name on the waiting list below, because spots typically sell out in hours.

The PN Lean Eating coaches are awesome. Every year they take a bunch of out-of-shape clients and whip them into the best shape of their lives.

But they’re not just physique magicians, internet sadists, and keyboard jockeys. They’re also real people with real lives, real experiences, and real world challenges of their own.

They’ve done what you’ve done. They’ve been where you are. That’s what makes them so darn good.

This isn’t just a fat-loss coaching job for them. No, they’re doing this to give something meaningful and important to their clients. Heck, they’re doing this to change the world.

Now who wouldn’t want a coach like that?

Lean Eating Women’s Coaches

Krista Schaus

A former cop turned personal trainer and coach, Krista Schaus is a hard-nosed, compassionate coach who’s seen her own share of ups and downs. See-sawing between euphoric confidence and down-in-the-dumps depression throughout the years, Krista sometimes hid her true feelings behind a thick armor of muscle and a brilliant smile. She looked in charge, but rarely felt as if she were.

“I used to be afraid of disappointing people,” she says. “Then I realized my challenges help them.”

After a physically and emotionally draining 2010, she decided to strip away the protective armor piece by piece and re-build.

The new Krista now keeps it real.

“I dug into who I really was, and gave myself permission to be vulnerable,” she says. “I can let my clients see the real me: someone who’s passionate and professional.”

Honesty, self-love, support, and a little bit of weight lifting? Krista discovered those are the keys to a life well lived.

Kate Kline

A hard-working, straight-A student, Kate Kline was the epitome of the overachiever who loved being the overachiever. In high school she was defined by her grades and her willingness to out-hustle anyone, a quality that shone when she ran track as a ninth grader.

But hard work quickly turned into compulsion. After a year of running as much as 100 miles per week, Kate was starting to scare everyone around her. Her parents hid her running shoes. Her friends commented on how skinny she was getting. But none of it hit home for Kate until, stripped of all nourishment, she collapsed in the middle of a run.

That day at the hospital she weighed in at 74 pounds at 5’7″. That’s when she knew it was time for a serious change. She finished high-school with straight A’s and did the same in college.

She started reading about behavioral change and exercise science. She traded in the running shoes for barbells and dumbbells and slowly started building a healthy body and mind, enlisting the help of Krista Schaus, a fellow Lean Eating coach.

After overcoming her old habits and adopting healthy ones, Kate Kline is still a hard-worker. She’s still a bit of an overachiever. The only difference? She channels all her energy into being the best person — and the best Lean Eating coach — she can possibly be.

Cynthia Berg

A former chain-smoking, whiskey-swilling Marine, Cynthia thrived on intense training, challenges, and stress. But when she left the military and started a “normal life”, she was surprised at how quickly she lost herself. Her career stalled. Her marriage ended. She didn’t recognize herself in the mirror any longer.

70 pounds overweight but “starving in every way possible”, she signed up for Lean Eating in 2009 to change her eating habits and maybe her life. Both happened.

After losing the weight and winning the $10,000 grand prize, Cynthia invested the money into her own education. She wanted to help people like her lose weight and get healthy. Her investment paid off big time.

Now a full-fledged Lean Eating coach, Cynthia helps hundreds of women every year lose fat, gain confidence, and get healthy.

Georgie Fear

As a teenager and young adult, Georgie, like millions of other girls, was convinced that in order to be beautiful she had to be skinny.

“I thought, ‘If I’m pretty or thin, then maybe people will like me!’” she says. “And I became absolutely obsessed with cutting calories, being thin, being attractive, just wanting so bad for other people to like what they saw in me.”

So Georgie started exercising in the best way she knew how: running mile after mile. After trying out for track and seeing the look on her coach’s face, however, she had to face facts: her body just wasn’t built to run.

But when that same coach handed her a Shot Put, Georgie learned her body was built for tossing heavy things and lifting weights. This, she knew, was where she could excel.

So she started working out in the gym, lifting weights and throwing discus. She learned how to fuel her body to build lean muscle and drop fat, knowledge she gained as a grad student at Rutgers in nutrition, and now passes on to women in the Lean Eating coaching program.

No longer obsessed with being thin, Georgie now loves her body for what it is: strong, sexy, and healthy. And she wants to help other women feel the same.

“A lot of times I think that coming through this awful fragility makes me stronger,” she says, remembering her teens and early twenties. “And it’s been a tremendous asset in my counselling and coaching.”

Erin Weiss-Trainor

Whether it’s food, time, work, or movement, Erin Weiss-Trainor focuses on quality above all else. How else could she be an awesome mom and an awesome coach at the same time?

A mother of three young athletic boys, she’s used to being the hub of all activity whether she’s at the house or the ice hockey rink (two places she spends a good chunk of time).

Good thing for PN that she has lots of practice.

As a Lean Eating coach, content manager, and customer service ninja, Erin has a hand in virtually every aspect of PN, a commitment she takes seriously.

But don’t think all this responsibility stops her from focusing on herself every day. Whether she’s in the gym, out for a run, or simply shutting her office door for a little peace and quiet, Erin has learned how to live fit and healthy while juggling a bustling family and rewarding career that helps change people’s lives.

Lean Eating Men’s Coaches

Ryan Andrews

A meat-eating nationally-ranked bodybuilder in his late teens, Ryan Andrews was defined by the gym and the muscles he built. But in 2001, after years of binging and dieting, he realized he didn’t actually know how to eat and be healthy.

“Bodybuilding was the best and the worst thing that ever happened to me,” he says reflectively.

Thus began his real education.

After years of grad school and a dietitian internship at John Hopkins Medical Center, Ryan emerged as a vegan, proponent of good nutrition, and world-class world-saver.

Now when he’s not giving out food in Africa or volunteering in the lunch room of his local elementary school, he coaches hundreds of men every year to help them get in the best shape of their lives.

Jay Bonn

A fit and muscular high school athlete with good grades, Jay Bonn seemed to be the kid that had it all. And to a point, he did. But his shyness and inability to talk with other people clouded his on-field and scholastic achievements, robbing them of their luster.

He was a good guy and everyone knew it, a damn good elementary teacher and, later, a damn good Lean Eating coach. He just didn’t say much. But in a job where talking with clients is not suggested but mandatory, Jay knew he had to tackle his shyness head-on.

After a few internships at high-level performance gyms and lots of practice with his Lean Eating clients, Coach Jay learned to come out from behind his soft smile and the relative safety of his computer screen and engage with people to help them change their bodies and lives.

He’s always held himself to a high-standard, as a coach and as a person. Conquering his shyness was just one more step to being the best coach he could be.

Roland Fisher

Here’s the thing about discomfort: it often masquerades as pain. Roland knows the difference. He’s experienced both.

With a laundry list of injuries and traumatic accidents, it’s a miracle he’s even alive, let alone thriving. He spent years “wondering and worrying” about how his past injuries and pain would affect his daily life, what kinds of things he wouldn’t be able to do. But then he learned to deal with the reality of the situation.

“Most things are just made-up pains,” he says. “Hunger, gym pain, awkwardness of telling friends, fears… all of these are discomfort, not pain. When it’s really serious, you can break down, you can wallow, and of course you do, at times. But mostly, it’s just pain. It hurts, sure. Yet it’s never as scary as most people think.” When Roland realized that, he started enjoying himself more.

Now he spends a few hours per week in the gym, past injuries be damned. He lives a healthy lifestyle and takes control of the things he has control over. The rest of it? It’ll all take care of itself eventually.

He lives in the now and helps his clients do the same.

“This job is about people, about contribution,” he says. “It’s about love in the different ways and meanings. As a coach, my practice is about my clients’ goals, lives, and making them successful.”

John Berardi

Through his books and articles, it’s estimated that Dr. John Berardi has published nearly a million words.

Most deal with how to build a lean, healthy body through eating and exercising. They represent years of research, practice, and a knack for distilling complicated information into bite-sized action steps.

Some words — the ones full of personality and life experience — hint at the “real John Berardi”, the man behind the computer screen, the enigma thousands of readers have tried to piece together from interviews, articles, and video clips.

Yet even the diligent reader is left with a bit of a skeleton — only a partial understanding of what makes him tick.

Because, despite the million words Berardi has written, only a few thousand have been written about him. And, for a better understanding of who JB really is, it’s those words that add the flesh and the blood.

As part of the Lean Eating coaching program, we incentivize participants with $50,000 in prize money for the best body transformations. Well, recently, the body transformation phase of Lean Eating wrapped up. And this week, we need your help in determining the men and women most worthy of the $50,000. Click here to vote.

A great feature of our Lean Eating Coaching Programs is the body transformation contest we run for men and women: every 6 months, we give $50,000 in prize money away for the best body transformations in the program.

Well, we just finished one of those contests – click here to get involved in the next round, starting in a few weeks – and now we need your help choosing the winners.

There’s $10,000 on the line for the top male body transformation and $10,000 for the top female body transformation. Plus, 10 male and 10 female runners up win $1,000 each. And we put up another $10,000 in special surprise rewards along the way.

Over the last week or so, the coaches and I have spent countless hours poring over physique photos, weight loss numbers, body composition data and participation records in order to choose a handful of finalists.

We’ve had a helluva time narrowing it down. Dozens upon dozens of folks have changed their bodies, and their lives, in spectacular ways. I can’t be more sincere when I say that the changes I saw in the men and women of this last cohort (both the physical and the mental/emotional) are among the most amazing I’ve seen in my entire career.

So at this point, I’m reaching out to all our PN readers. I need your help in determining the one man and one woman most worthy of the two $10,000 grand prizes.

Our Male $10,000 Finalists

These guys came in all shapes and sizes, from all parts of the globe, and from all walks of life. Check out what they were able to accomplish in just 12 months of eating and exercising properly.

And remember, with Lean Eating coaching, there are no crash diets, no Biggest Loser-type bootcamps, no full-time chefs, no full-time personal trainers. In other words: these are real guys adding fitness into their lives one step at a time, building on each day’s successes, and learning how to maintain what they’ve accomplished for life.

How To Vote

When casting your vote, it’s important to remember that we’re not rewarding the best bodies per se. We’re rewarding the best transformations. Indeed, in the Lean Eating program we don’t expect folks to start off looking like fitness models. Heck, we don’t even expect folks to end up looking like fitness models.

Rather, we’re simply looking for winners who’ve made the most dramatic changes in their own bodies, starting wherever they were at the beginning of the program. (And, as you’ll see, folks started all over the place.) Truly, the Lean Eating Coaching Program is for men and women of all shapes and sizes. And your vote should reflect who you think created the most dramatic changes over the course of the last 12 months.

Want to be part of the next Lean Eating Coaching Program, transform your body and maybe even win $75,000?

If you’re looking to change your own body, I highly recommend you get on the waiting list for the next Lean Eating Coaching Program, because we only run the program twice a year and spots sell out in hours.

Registration for our next group opens to the general public on January 4th. But those motivated enough to put themselves on the waiting list get to register on January 3rd, 24 hours before everyone else.

If you’re interested in transforming your body, like these clients have, then put your name on the list below — because as always, spots are first come, first serve, and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Our Female $10,000 Finalists

These women came in all shapes and sizes, from all parts of the globe, and from all walks of life. Check out what they were able to accomplish in just 12 months of eating and exercising properly.

And remember, with Lean Eating coaching, there are no crash diets, no Biggest Loser-type bootcamps, no full-time chefs, no full-time personal trainers. These are real women adding fitness into their lives one step at a time, building on each day’s successes, and learning how to maintain what they’ve accomplished for life.

As we transition from young guys into full-fledged men, a few things tend to happen: we move a little less and we eat a little more. Our metabolisms slow down and we gain some fat. Maybe a little fat; maybe a lot.

If you’re like most guys, you’ll chalk it up to a natural part of aging, akin to losing your hair or suffering from an ever-decreasing sex drive.

We have two words for you: Screw. That.

Despite what you may have heard, it doesn’t take much to lose weight, get back in shape, and enhance the quality of your life. All it takes is the right program, the right habits, the right mentors, and the right support network. Just ask any of the guys below.

Like many, they found themselves settling for a below-average body, even if the rest of their life was well above average. Eventually they (along with thousands of others) got fed up looking and feeling like crap, and joined us here.

Their results in our Lean Eating Coaching Program have been phenomenal. But the best part? It’s all replicable.

Just as these guys lost weight, got back in shape, and transformed their lives, so can you. It only requires a motivation to change, and a first step in the right direction.

Doctor’s Orders: Lose 55 Pounds with Dr. Steve

Sometimes even doctors need a little preventative medicine.

An emergency room surgeon, Dr. Steve Leech is in the business of fixing and stitching when things go wrong. But after accepting a rewarding (and stressful) new job, Steve’s own health started sliding. A fit guy throughout most of his life, Steve started skipping the gym and eating crap food because he was “too busy” to work out or eat healthy.

But when he reached 230 pounds he knew he needed to fix something. That’s when he joined Lean Eating.

After one year in the program, Steve had lost 55 pounds and transformed his body from soft and flabby to muscular and lean. (He even got a haircut.) Dr. Leech enjoyed the program so much that he decided to learn all the Precision Nutrition principles first hand.

Now he’s Precision Nutrition Certified. He helps coach his own friends and family. And he even has some advice for his patients.

Over 100 Pounds Lost: A New Beginning for John

Obese throughout his 20’s, 30’s and early 40’s, John Romkey tipped the scales at 355 pounds at his heaviest.

A graduate of MIT, he spent years developing his mind — working long hours behind a computer in isolation — but neglected his body until age 46 when he signed up for Lean Eating.

The first month he lost 15 pounds. Motivated, he set a goal of hitting 100% compliance on his workouts and nutrition habits for the entirety of the program. After 16 months John had lost over 100 pounds, completely transforming his body and life.

His story shows that no matter how heavy you are, there’s always a way to reverse trends, get lean and fit, and live your best life possible.

Big-Time Body Transformation: Yano’s Turnaround

Yano had a beautiful fiancé, a high-power law career, a great group of friends, and dreams of living the “ultimate” life. The only thing he didn’t have? The body to make all of those dreams a reality. In fact, at 255 pounds and pre-diabetic, Yano’s unhealthy lifestyle was threatening his quality of life.

But after losing 70 pounds and 20% body fat in 12 months as part of the Lean Eating program, Yano not only dropped fat and added hard muscle to his body—he added years to his life.

“I put my fate in the hands of the Lean Eating program,” says Yano. “They were guaranteeing results, and I figured I had nothing to lose, except for the fat. If you can follow instructions, you can change your life.”

180 Days to Leanness: Back in Shape with Bryan

A fine-tuned athlete in college, Bryan, 42, recently found himself overweight and out of shape, a result of a high-stress entrepreneurial lifestyle. He knew what to do to get back into shape—he just wasn’t doing it.

“How good is knowledge without action?” he asks. “Not very.”

When he joined the Lean Eating coaching program, he knew he’d be learning from a team of experts and that the $10,000 transformation contest would keep him motivated. It was the perfect combo.

32 pounds and 15% body fat later, Bryan achieved—then surpassed—his old athletic body.

“I thought the $10,000 would be the best reward,” he says. “However, the experience itself was worth far more than the money. For me, Lean Eating was a physical, mental, and (maybe even) spiritual journey that has really fueled my enthusiasm for fitness, health and wellness.”

A Path to a Lean Body: Alvar’s Experience

Alvar, 44 years old, was 27 pounds overweight before starting Lean Eating. His body, tired of lugging around the extra weight during his intense martial arts practices, showed signs of shutting down.

Nine months later, after losing 12% body fat and revealing rock-hard abs, he regained control over his body and life, despite living in a foreign country and enduring the effects of the 2011 Japanese tsunami.

His secret? Adopting small habits along the way, taking control of the things he could, and ignoring the rest.

“You don’t have to change your life to get in great shape,” he says. “Getting lean, fit, and healthy opens your eyes to things far beyond eating and workouts. The program worked perfectly for me.”

Dr. Steve Leech signed up for Lean Eating when he weighed in at 230 pounds. He was in the worst shape of his life. He wasn’t sure what to expect from the program, but knew he needed to do something about his body and decreasing energy levels.

After one year in Lean Eating he lost 55 pounds, got into single-digit body fat, and lost 10 inches off his waist alone. Here’s his story.

Not much surprises Steve Leech.

As an emergency room doctor, he’s seen it all: car crashes, heart attacks, broken bones. Most people’s worst fears are simply problems for him to solve.

He operates with precision and care. He’s quick. Nimble. Calm. He’s all the qualities you want in a doctor when you’re lying on the gurney, confused and bleeding.

Everything’s fine, he tells you after you’ve been stitched and stapled. Everything’s going to be just fine.

And how you can you not believe this man and his magic hands?

So you lie there in your room and drift to sleep, bandaged and safe, and Dr. Leech steps out the door and gently shuts it behind him.

He walks down the long hallway — his heels echoing in the empty silence of the early morning — and gets in his car. At home, he changes out of his scrubs, walks to the kitchen, opens a cabinet, grabs a box of crackers and starts eating. Then he opens another box and eats that too.

This behavior — this mindless eating of junk food — this is the only thing that surprises Steve Leech.

When the heck did he lose control over his body? Here he is, saving people’s lives on a daily basis, and he’s slowly killing himself with crap food.

He gets back in bed, determined to figure it all out.

But before he can self-analyze, he’s asleep.

Dr. Steve at his heaviest, enjoying the surf in Mexico

Flash back six years earlier.

Steve and his wife Lori have just moved from Philly to Florida so Steve can accept a new job at a Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only six in the entire state. It’s an excellent career move with more pay, more hours, and more responsibility.

The atmosphere at the hospital is fast-paced and Steve quickly finds his groove. Every day is exciting. He has no idea what’s going to roll in the front doors or when. No idea what kind of problems he’s gonna have the chance to solve.

But while all the activity does wonders for his mind, his body begins to deteriorate. He doesn’t notice it as first. He’s always been fit — a trim 185 pounds – so he thinks he has some leeway.

He cancels mountain bike trips and skips hikes. His days in the gym drop from three per week to two to one to hardly at all. He starts eating out more, ordering whatever is quickest. He goes hours without eating then binges when he gets home.

“I didn’t realize I was off track until much later,” he says. “Like, a few years later.”

Then in December of 2009 he’s with his family back in Philly. Everyone’s there for the holidays. Food is everywhere. People are talking about the things people talk about when they’re home for the holidays and haven’t seen each other in months. There’s lots of catching up.

Cameras come out and capture everything.

A few days later, when he’s back home and wishing he’d never have to see another damn Christmas cookie again, Steve gets the photos in an email. He looks through them, one by one.

There he is sitting on the couch. There he is eating pie. There he is being fat.

“I was a slug,” he says. “I weighed 230 pounds. Those photos were the turning point.”

So that year for Christmas, instead of exchanging gifts, Steve and his wife gave each other the Lean Eating coaching program.

Vacation in Colorado, getting ready to begin the Lean Eating Program

In med school, they don’t teach you what kind of food to eat to feel good, look good, and live longer.

That’s because trauma surgeons aren’t in the preventative care business; they’re in the shit-just-hit-the-fan business.

In other words, they don’t tell you to eat an apple every day. They quickly remove the piece of apple that got lodged in your throat, cutting off your air supply. Then they send you the bill.

Dr. Leech is a few months into the Lean Eating program and is surprised at how much he’s learning about feeding himself. Something so simple and human as eating and he’d never really thought about it before.

“Lean Eating is so easy to follow that it really didn’t take long for me to start seeing results,” he says. “It’s amazing what happened when I started becoming aware of my lifestyle.”

Instead of mindlessly eating whatever is around, Dr. Leech and his wife spend a couple hours every week preparing and cooking healthy meals they can eat in a pinch. For someone as busy as Steve — who routinely works 12-hour days — this one small habit makes an incredible difference. Now he skips the vending machine between patients and sits down to a nice meal of chicken and fresh veggies.

While the weight loss is nice — it’s the changes no one else sees that make him feel proud.

When he’s operating on a patient, he’s more calm and focused. His mental acuity has increased. His hands are steadier.

“I felt like I was turning back the clock 15 years to my early twenties,” he says.

Dr. Steve getting in awesome shape and enjoying the things his new body can do

The Florida sun is hot, the air heavy with humidity, but the doctor is in session. Along with 30 other people.

There’s a park outside the hospital and twice per week they meet here — sometimes thirty, sometimes three, always Dr. Leech — to work out.

He stands like a conductor in front of them — a mix of friends, fresh med-school graduates, and colleagues, all dressed in shorts and t-shirts — and barks out orders. He points to stations. He demonstrates exercises. He keeps an eye on the clock and yells “Switch!” when the time is up. And he’s right there with them the whole time, sweating and breathing hard.

There are battling ropes, kettlebells, and TRX’s. There are monkey bars, benches, and sprint parachutes. There are heart rate monitors everywhere, for the vast majority are doctors and their analytical minds need to know stuff like that.

For forty minutes they sprint, jump, push, pull, swing, and sweat. And when it’s all done they load the equipment into Dr. Leech’s truck and promise to meet again in a few days.

And when they’re loading up the truck, a few of the bold ones ask Dr. Leech how. How has he lost over 50 pounds? They’ve seen him melt and tighten up before their eyes. They gotta know how he did it.

So now it seems like Dr. Leech is in the preventative medicine business, at least unofficially.

But he’s ready to help. Because not only is he a doctor, he’s also Precision Nutrition certified.

Enjoying some hiking while fast becoming a fitness role model for friends and colleagues

His wife Lori — who lost 30 pounds in Lean Eating — is preparing for a triathlon, so he’s taken a vacation to California with friends. But he’s not there to relax in the sun. He’s there to climb Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the United States.

Round-trip, it’s 22 miles with an elevation gain of over 6,000 feet.

While most hikers do the trip in two days, Steve and his friends decide they’re in good enough shape to do it in one. They start early in the morning before the sun is up, their breath showing in the cool morning air. Steve, naturally, leads the pack.

They walk.

As the sun creeps over the mountain and hits his face, Steve has a thought: This is who he is. The guy who helps other people. The guy who saves lives. The guy who’s fit and active. The guy who enjoys challenges.

We all have our identity, he thinks. And whatever we tell ourselves we are, is what we usually become.

Now Steve’s fired up. His pace increases.

Eight hours later, he’s at the top. It’s windy up here. Refreshing.

He takes in the view. A year ago, he would have never made it. Not just to the top of this mountain but here, thinking the way he does, living the way he’s living.

When he gets down he’ll have celebratory beers with his friends who braved the climb. He’ll call his wife.

But mostly he’ll be grateful. For Lean Eating. For having the fortitude to stick with it. For his wife joining with him.

Reaching the summit

Yeah, there isn’t much that surprises Steve Leech any more. Except that he still has the ability to surprise himself.

Lean Eating coaching for men and women coming in July; join the waiting list today

Steve got in the best shape of his life in the Lean Eating Coaching Program.

John Romkey spent years developing his mind but never gave his body a second thought. After struggling with weight issues and emotional eating since his teenage years, he joined the Lean Eating coaching program at age 46. He weighed 331 pounds.

With the help of Lean Eating, close friends, and family, he lost over 100 pounds in 16 months.

This is his story.

The End: A New Beginning

Right now John Romkey is relaxing in an office chair in his beautiful New Hampshire home, 100 pounds lighter than when he started Lean Eating 16 months ago. He’s got a nice home, a loving partner, and great friends.

He is 47 years old and life is fantastic.

In just a few short weeks, he will be graduating from the coaching program that helped change his life, the program that gave him the ability to sit in a movie theatre comfortably, fly without using a seatbelt extender, and ride a bike for the first time in 30 years.

So how does he feel about setting off on his own, about leaving Lean Eating behind? He thinks it’s a weird question.

While Lean Eating gave him the tools to get fit — the eating habits, the workouts, the coaching — it’s been on him to actually follow through with any of it. Graduating from the program, he says, won’t change his habits or his drive.

If anything, it’ll ingrain it all into his daily life even more.

Month 14: Learning to Love Training and Exercise

He may be the only man alive who likes Bulgarian Split Squats, the torturous exercise that tests your patience as much as it does your balance and muscle endurance. And that’s what he’s doing in the gym right now, one leg on the floor, one leg on the bench, squatting down and standing up effortlessly.

When he first started, he had to hold on to a pole to keep his balance. His range of motion was so pitiful, it didn’t even look like he was moving.

But now John has not only ditched the pole, he’s doing the split squats while holding dumbbells. He’s slowing down the tempo. He’s feeling the burn. He’s actually enjoying himself right now.

Just when did he turn into this guy?

Month 11: Coming to Terms with the Ever-Changing Wardobe

John owns one pair of pants. He’s simply lost weight too quickly too keep up with his wardrobe. He went from 3XL down to 2XL in the first few months. Then from 2XL to XL after that. Now he’s wearing a Large, or maybe even a Medium, depending on the garment and who made it.

It’s a good thing he works from home. This would be murder on his wallet if he had to show up somewhere in a suit and tie every day. But still, he’s ready for new clothes. Just a few more months, and he’ll be down a few more pounds. Then he’ll go shopping for something real nice.

But right now he’s standing in front of his closet thinking, “What should I wear today?”

Easy, John. Just put on your one pair of pants and get the day rolling.

Month 8: Creative in the Grocery Store

Here’s a simple way to navigate the grocery store: Stay on the perimeter. All the processed stuff like chips, cookies, pasta, sauces, and dressings is in the middle. The good stuff like vegetables, meats, eggs, and fruits are stocked on the outside, away from the aisles. John learned this when he started Lean Eating eight months ago and he practices it every time he shops.

The cart he pushes sticks to the perimeter like it’s on a one-way track, weaving in and out of the produce, stopping occasionally so John can pick up an avocado or an apple, test its integrity with his fingers, and then discard or keep it.

And when he gets to the meat section, his eyes light up and he scans for free-range chicken like a modern hunter. “Where do my taste-buds want to go today?” he thinks.

India, maybe. India would be fantastic.

So he takes his chicken — professionally wrapped in paper from the guy behind the counter — and then he’s off to grab turmeric, coriander, and cumin.

Month 6: The Definition of Moderation

One fry is all he needs. Really, just one.

John’s out to dinner with friends and he’s getting ready to steal a fry off someone’s plate. They’re trying to get him to take more, offering to make him a small plate of fries.

No, John insists. Just the one. Really.

He takes it, crispy golden brown and flaky, and eats it. Then he’s back to his salad, fish, and steamed vegetables. Here’s the thing: John really doesn’t want another fry. He’s over the fries. He’s all fried out. And he certainly doesn’t have to restrain himself from taking a few more off his friend’s plate.

This is a relatively new thing.

When he first started Lean Eating he wasn’t sure if he could get used to this “style” of eating, worried that he’d get sidelined the first time someone next to him ordered the burger and fries, or the lasagna, or the peanut butter brownie ice cream thing. But now he craves wholesome food, loves getting gourmet salads and lean cuts of juicy steak.

Don’t get him wrong. He can still enjoy a nice slice of apple pie, but only rarely, and only if that sucker is homemade with love.

And even then, he may prefer fresh watermelon instead.

Month 3: I Can Actually Do This

Here’s a guy who graduated from MIT, worked as a coding pioneer when the Internet was the ARPANET, and now works from his computer at home.

The geek comes out every time he logs in to the online Lean Eating program, which is still pretty new to him.

He’s enamored with the software and the way it tracks progress. There are graphs and things to click and data entry points. But the best part? It shows his near-perfect compliance to the program.

100% habit compliance. 98% workout compliance. 99% assignment compliance.

When he signed up for the program, he knew he was going to take it seriously. But he didn’t know he had this in him.

He’s 297 pounds. It’s the first time he’s broken the 300-pound barrier in decades.

Month 1: The Decision to Change

That’s it. Enough.

He weighs 331 pounds for chrissakes. It’s time to get this under control and do something about it. He’s tired of being fat. He’s tired of feeling this bad all the time. He talked with his trainer about the program yesterday. Told her what it was about, and how it worked. She put her hand on his shoulder and said she supported him.

John walks to his computer, takes out his credit card, and signs up for Lean Eating. It seems like a rash decision, what with the 24-hour deadline to sign up. But this has been a long time coming. Now he only has to tell his partner what he’s done. Life is about to be a little different for the both of them.

And John needs all the support he can get.

John goofing around with his trainer Bonnie

T-Minus 24 Months to Lean Eating

John’s in the gym with Bonnie doing some balance work.

Bonnie is his trainer. She was his first line of defense against the rest of the gym when he first started working out, when nerves got the better of him and he imagined that everyone was judging him. But Bonnie made him feel comfortable from the start.

He came to her a year ago with knee trouble, and has been working with her ever since. He’s dropped 30 pounds, going from 355 to 325.

She’s a good trainer and a good friend.

T-Minus 48 Months to Lean Eating

His doctor is surprised. John’s cholesterol and blood pressure are well within the normal range, which is strange for someone who weighs what John weighs. Still, he warns John, being this big and out of shape isn’t healthy. Pretty soon, it’ll all catch up with you.

But this isn’t enough to scare John. As far as he’s concerned, he’s healthy. Kind of. He knows he’s obese. You’d have to be blind not to see that. But sometimes it’s easy to close your eyes and forget about what you look like.

John walks out of his doctors office with no real plan to lose weight. Why should he? He’s pretty much healthy.

Pick a random day in a random year between 1985 and 2009 and ask yourself what John Romkey is doing.

Chances are good that he’s sitting on his couch, his laptop resting on his belly, so fat that he can’t comfortably sit at a desk. Take Homer Simpson give him 100 more IQ points, a degree from MIT, and replace his beer with loose-leaf tea, and you’ve got John Romkey in his 20’s, 30’s, and early 40’s.

He’s brilliant, considerate, and kind. A real sweetheart.

But John has a weight problem — he’s had one for nearly his whole life — and he doesn’t know how to deal with it.

John - before Lean Eating - hanging out with some friends

The Beginning

Little John Romkey is helping his dad load 50-pound bales of hay into a truck on their family farm in Maine. He is 10 years old, soft-cheeked with brown hair and a shy smile.

His mom will pass away in two years.

He will be the nerdy kid in gym class who gets picked last for dodgeball.

He will binge on food to insulate himself from a sketchy home life.

He will develop his brilliant mind and be a pioneer coder in the early stages of the Internet.

He will graduate from MIT and build a successful business.

He will meet an amazing partner and find awesome friends.

He will balloon to 355 pounds and wonder if he can ever come back from it.

And then John Romkey will lose over 100 pounds and completely change his life.
