The Precision Nutrition purpose.
To help clients all over the world discover the joys of living a fit, healthy life. And to help thousands of professionals deliver this purpose to their own clients.
John, trained in fitness and nutrition, and Phil, trained in engineering and technology, share a common belief: Good health and a thriving body are the birthright of every single person on this planet.
Tired of diet books and cookie-cutter training plans, John and Phil created a research-driven, web-based coaching community called Precision Nutrition.
Today, Precision Nutrition is the largest -- and most respected -- private nutrition coaching and education company in the world.
We are the go-to source in the fitness industry. Renowned fitness experts, health professionals, and superstar athletes all come to us for advice.
Over the last 12 years, we've watched fad diets and fitness crazes come and go. But when the fads have failed, and the crazes have died out, and people just want something that works... we're the ones they come to.
What we do.
Precision Nutrition helps clients transform their lives — and professionals transform their businesses — through expert coaching, ongoing support, and guided mentorship. Here's how:
Using the best practices of adult online education, we share everything we know about nutrition and health, behavior change, and real-world coaching with our professional students.
We also teach them how to build successful, meaningful businesses.
In fact, the Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification is top-ranked across the board:
- #1 most recommended nutrition certification program in the world
- 94% of customers rate our program better than anything else out there for learning how to become a better coach and helping clients change their behaviors
- Rated #1 by customers for reputation, nutrition content quality, behavior-change coaching, and program effectiveness
Bottom line: If you want to learn nutrition science and the art of coaching from the best in the field, you’ve come to the right place.
Nutrition and Health Coaching
We approach coaching by listening to our clients' needs and what they want to accomplish, learning how they live, discovering what's really important to them, and working together to create the right nutrition and exercise approach based on their goals and lifestyle.
Then we coach them through the process, helping with the inevitable roadblocks along the way to success.
Through our ProCoach software we help health and fitness professionals deliver research-proven nutrition and lifestyle coaching to anyone who needs it... from paying clients, to family members, to co-workouts, to loved ones.
Whether they want to coach in-person, online, or a combination of the two, whatever fits their ideal lifestyle, it's possible with ProCoach.
With the ProCoach curriculum, coaching tools, and software, our ProCoaches are able to get better results with dozens, even hundreds, of people while working less, growing their businesses, and living life on their own terms.
Our message to you right now.

Purpose in Action.
Precision Nutrition strives to serve a larger purpose—to help others, and to help the organization do good work. This extends to each Precision Nutrition team member who is supported in their engagement with meaningful causes in their neighborhoods and communities. From making nutritious food more accessible to expanding the reach of Precision Nutrition’s tools and products, we’re proud to partner with the below organizations to share our resources and expertise with the people who seek to discover the joys of living a fit, healthy life.
Community Food Centres Canada
Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) is a Toronto-based, Canada-wide organization that works tirelessly to build healthy and fair food systems in low-income communities. The CFCC's "good food for everyone" ethos feels intimately linked to ours at Precision Nutrition, and inspired the Potluck of Meaning. This annual event aims to raise money for a cause that really matters but also connects people through food and community. This is where we stand.
Men’s Health Strength in Diversity Initiative
Men’s Health, the world’s largest men’s magazine brand, launched the Strength in Diversity Initiative offering trainers from marginalized communities the chance to work with elite fitness professionals. This includes Precision Nutrition’s director of nutrition, Brian St. Pierre who will be hosting nutrition-focused webinars. All trainers also have the opportunity to earn their L1 certification.
A Second U x Precision Nutrition
A Second U, a nonprofit foundation that trains formerly incarcerated people for careers in the fitness industry, expanded its education program to include the Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification. Additionally, each A Second U trainer will gain unrestricted access to Precision Nutrition’s extensive library of client-facing articles and infographics to help them integrate nutrition coaching into their personal training programs, while also pursuing new clients as online nutrition coaches.
