Ryan Maciel is Precision Nutrition’s head performance nutrition coach—elite athletes and organizations. He’s a graduate of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Simmons College and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Maciel is a Registered Dietitian and completed his dietetic internship through the University of New Haven. He’s also a Precision Nutrition Level 2 certified coach (Pn2) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA).
In his current role. Maciel provides expert nutrition counsel and program development for elite athletes and professional organizations. This includes auditing the current dietary programs for professional organizations—as well as for their individual elite athletes—in order to develop performance-based nutrition strategies, programs, and educational materials to support their success. To help athletes optimize their performance through nutrition, Maciel uses a battery of research-based physiological tests and assessments that include genetic, blood chemistry, food sensitivity, and microbiome analyses.
Prior to Precision Nutrition, Maciel was Lead Nutrition and Fitness Coach at the Commonwealth Sports Club in Boston for nine years. At the club, he perfected his approach, helping clients make meaningful changes through habit-based coaching, uniquely tailored to each individual to provide the support and guidance needed for success.
Maciel is truly passionate about health and fitness and is dedicated to improving people’s health and well-being. He has volunteered as a head coach with American Scores Boston, led nutrition seminars at the YMCA of Greater Boston, taught adults how to shop for healthy low-cost foods through Cooking Matters Nutrition, and developed and instructed nutrition classes for preschool and elementary children at Head Start.
