Become a Master Health Coach in 20 weeks

This program lasts for 20 weeks. Each week, you’ll attend a live, 2-hour workshop led by our expert mentors, alongside your peers.

You’ll also want to dedicate roughly 5-8 hours per week participating in the live online learning sessions, practicing your new skills through coursework and case studies, and connecting with fellow health and fitness professionals.

The Spring 2026 cohort orientation sessions will be held at four different times (you’ll choose the one that works for you): April 21st at 2pm ET, April 22nd at 9am ET; April 23rd at 12pm ET; April 23rd at 7pm ET.

Live workshops begin the week of April 27th and go until the week of Sept. 14th. There is a one week break from June 28th – July 3rd.

Every week for 20 weeks, you’ll join a live 2-hour online workshop via Zoom led by one of PN’s expert mentor coaches. These aren’t lectures—they’re hands-on practice sessions where you and your peers work through real coaching scenarios together.

A typical session might start with a client intake profile. You and your group analyze it together—what stands out, what are the red flags, what would you do first? Then you role-play the coaching conversation, taking turns as coach and client, while your mentor observes and gives you real-time feedback on your technique.

This is how coaching instincts are actually built: deliberate repetition with expert guidance, in a safe environment where you can fumble, get feedback, and try again.

After going through these sessions, students consistently tell us that working with real clients feels familiar rather than frightening. You’ve already done this. You know what you’re doing.

There is a scheduled break week from June 27th – July 3rd.

Four time options are offered each week so you can find what works for your schedule. You’re welcome to attend a different session time each week if needed—you don’t have to commit to the same slot every time.

Workshops begin the week of April 27th and run through the week of September 14th, with a scheduled break week from June 27th to July 3rd.

After workshops conclude, the final exam becomes available on September 18th and must be completed by October 1st. Pass/fail results for the 20-week core course will be delivered on Friday, October 2nd.

Note: Attending live is only mandatory if you’re pursuing the NBC-HWC Board Certification or HCA Registered Health Coach designation. If you’re not on that path, recordings are provided for every session—though we strongly encourage attending live whenever you can. The real-time feedback and peer practice are what make this program transformative.

PN Level 2 is an approved training program recognized by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), meaning graduates are eligible to sit for the HWC Certifying Examination and earn the NBC-HWC designation. You’ll also automatically qualify as a Health Coach Alliance Registered Health Coach (HCA-RHC).

The credentialing landscape is shifting fast. More employers now require NBC-HWC rather than simply preferring it. The NBHWC recently launched a career center connecting employers exclusively with board-certified coaches. And board-certified coaches earn approximately 55% more on average than non-credentialed coaches.

No formal prerequisites are required.

What matters most is your commitment to the process. If you’re newer to coaching, the program’s structured practice, weekly feedback, and step-by-step mentorship are designed to build your confidence and skills from the ground up. All you need is at least one practice partner—a patient, colleague, family member, or friend—to work with during the program.

If you’re more experienced, you’ll refine your instincts into repeatable systems, tackle more complex client scenarios, and sharpen the communication skills that separate good coaches from great ones.

Because the program is skills-based and feedback-driven, your mentors meet you where you are, so both newer and seasoned coaches progress meaningfully.

You don’t need paying clients to enroll. But since Level 2 is built around hands-on practice, you’ll get the most out of the program if you have at least one person to practice with—whether that’s a current client, a colleague, a friend, or a family member willing to be your guinea pig.

Throughout the program, you’ll be applying what you learn in real coaching conversations, so having someone to practice with outside of the weekly live sessions makes a real difference in how quickly your skills develop.

Don’t have anyone in mind yet? Not a problem. Your cohort peers are there for exactly this—practicing with each other is built into the program from week one.

Yes, your credential requires renewal every two years from your date of completion.

This isn’t just administrative housekeeping. As long as you complete the renewal process before your credential expires, you’ll maintain your status as a PN Certified Master Health Coach.

They’re two completely different and complementary certifications, and you don’t need Level 1 to enroll in Level 2.

PN Level 1 is a self-paced program focused on nutrition science and behavior-change coaching. It gives you a pro-level understanding of what to do with clients around food, habits, and lifestyle.

PN Level 2 is a 20-week guided mentorship focused on the art and science of coaching itself—not specific nutrition or fitness strategies. It’s where you develop the skills to actually do it: handle resistance, navigate emotional complexity, build trust, and drive lasting change with any client in any situation.

Think of it this way: Level 1 gives you the knowledge. Level 2 gives you the mastery.

The final exam is 100 multiple choice questions, delivered at the end of the program. The goal is synthesis—pulling together what you’ve learned over 20 weeks—not memorization or surprise. Students who engage with the material consistently throughout the program find it straightforward.

Put in the work week to week and the exam will take care of itself.

To successfully earn your PN Level 2 Master Health Coach credential, you must:

• Complete at least 75% of the weekly reflection questions
• Complete at least 75% of the quizzes
• Complete all 3 written case study assignments with a score of 75% or higher
• Complete the 100-question multiple choice final exam with a score of 75% or higher
• Attend and participate in all 20 weekly live sessions*

*Live session attendance is mandatory only for students pursuing the NBC-HWC Board Certification or HCA Registered Health Coach designation. All other students are strongly encouraged to attend live, but recordings are provided for any sessions you miss.
