Precision Nutrition is looking for a seasoned Controller to manage the accounting and financial reporting activities of our business. We’re looking for a “roll up your sleeves” individual who’s comfortable getting into the details and looking at the big picture.

You’ll be able to work from home, doing work that energizes and motivates you. And, you get to do this for an innovative company that makes a difference in the lives of thousands of people around the globe. This position will be located in the Greater Toronto Area, reports to the CFO, and will also work with our new private equity partner, BV Investment Partners.

You’ll get to do lots of great work for PN, our clients, our partners and of course, our amazing team. From day-to-day accounting, to monthly financial statements and everything in between. You love this work and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Here’s an idea of what you’ll get to do:

  • Responsible for the timely completion of accurate financial statements and supporting materials on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial reporting for our Board of Directors, lenders, and external investor.
  • Manage all accounting and financial reporting activities of the business, including, but not limited to general accounting records and GL maintenance, cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital assets, and inventory.
  • Coordinating with our HR team and vendors to process our Canadian and US payrolls.
  • Working with our external contractors to ensure that vendors are paid and team expense reports are processed.
  • Assisting our Client Care team when client related financial matters arise.
  • Preparing and paying government tax remittances and coordinating with external tax advisors on tax matters.
  • Generating periodic manual invoices when needed.
  • General accounting functions including data input, analysis, journal entries and reconciliations to the general ledger.
  • Preparing the year-end audit package and assisting our external auditors.
  • Assisting the CFO in the Budgeting and Forecasting process.
  • Assisting on tax matters as required.

Our Ideal Candidate

Is experienced. You’re well-versed in Canadian GAAP for Private Enterprises and have been doing similar work for at least 5 years as a Financial Controller. An accounting designation would be ideal. Bonus points if you have experience in: Accounting system conversions (we currently use Quickbooks); Reporting to a private equity investor; Dealing with multiple currencies; Reporting on debt covenant calculations; Implementing an automated expense management system.

Can zoom in and out. We’re a small and nimble team. It will be you and our CFO along with our contractors, so you’ll be managing large projects and performing analysis in the morning then rolling up your sleeves as a bookkeeper in the afternoon to code invoices and book journal entries. You’re someone who embraces getting things done, no matter what the work is. Nothing is below your “pay grade”.

Is SUPER detail-oriented with a sense of urgency. You’re like a hawk. You have processes in place to ensure accuracy and timeliness. You’re not perfect – none of us are – but you take pride in this skill that comes naturally to you. You don’t get lost in the details, because you know we only have 24 hours in a day. You get things done with efficiency and urgency.

Is tech savvy. We’re a remote team and rely on technology to communicate with each other and get our work done (think video conferences). We’re aiming to go paperless and store all of our documents electronically. You don’t need to be a developer, but you’re not afraid to dive into a new app, or figure out how to use anything that comes your way.

Is secure and by the book. Compliance is your middle name. You follow relevant financial standards and legislation to ensure our processes are reflective of these requirements. You maintain our internal accounting controls and secure all of our financial information by ensuring our data is backed up properly and held in the strictest of confidence.

Is self-motivated and can work independently. Once you are confident in what you need to do, you can run with it and don’t need a lot of direction.

Works from home, so long as home is near Toronto. At PN, we work remotely. That is, we all work from home. And, we do have an office in Toronto, where you would need to go into periodically, but the rest of the time you could work from home.

Wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization. PN is a pretty incredible place and is committed to allowing you to do the work you love and love the work you do. You can learn a little bit more about what it’s like to work at PN from Phil Caravaggio, our co-founder.

Life-changing, research-driven nutrition coaching. That’s our mission at Precision Nutrition.

As an organization, we:

  • Seek and support diversity.
  • Offer 4 weeks paid time-off, benefits, and the ability to work remotely from Canada.
  • Set you up with whatever fancy gear you need to perform at your best.
  • Give you the flexibility to make your own schedule.

We love exercise, we love nutrition, and we love sport. That’s why we started this company. If you do too, you’ll appreciate how rare it is to find a career you really love. For active, fit people, Precision Nutrition is that opportunity.

Work with fun, bright, and talented people. We’re a small company, and we’re picky about who we work with, because to us, this isn’t just a job; it’s our life.
