which nut is better: walnut/almond or pecan and why?

I was wondering what nut was better to eat?

walnut

almonds

or

pecans?

why are they the better of the 3?

i always have a mix of walnuts/almonds and a few pecans, but was wondering if it were better to eat 1 or 2 of them as opposed to the others?

Before you start worrying about the nuts you need to fix the junk food. Make sure you are at 90% compliance before you try tweaking diets. You can't tweak what you aren't following.

Identify what is making you slip. Is it stress? Boredom with what you are eating? Puting yourself in the path of temptation too often?

If, for example, you're going out with co-workers for lunch everyday and having to watch them eat junk food while you eat what you think is boring food that may be putting too much stress on your willpower. In that case you have to take yourself out of those situations.

If you're bored with your food start trying some new recipies. Healthy does not need to be dry and tasteless.

Start a compliance chart. Doesn't have to be complicated. Note what time you got up and then give yourself a * for every meal that you eat on time.

Watch the assumption your not eating enough. Unless you mean meal frequency as opposed to not enough calories. If your putting on fat or not losing it the most likely culprit is not enough exercise, too many calories or both.

Kinda depends on wether you are munching on a couple of ounces or a whole pound :) A variety is always best though. Each one has something different to offer and that is as important as eating cleanly.

nuts are a dense food and you can eat a lot of calories that way. Thats why you need to get the consistancy down and then evaluate. That way if you aren't getting results you can start increasing exercise or start cutting the nuts down a bit and see where that gets you.

Hey. In addition to the good advice Morkai gave here's mine...

Forget about the few extra nuts and which has more nutritional value. Forget about counting calories. If, as you said, you "fell off the wagon" and if you can't remember if you had breakfast, attention needs to be devoted elsewhere. In the grand scheme of things, those should not be your primary focus. Right now, I think, you should just focus on eating good foods and eating them every 2-3 hours and getting in some good exercise. Once that becomes ingrained, you can start to make adjustments here and there. Make sure you build a solid fouindation first. If you'd like to post up a typical day's meal plan, I'd be more than happy to take a look.

Hope that helps.

I am in the "just learn to eat right" stage of the program. One meal that I love....absolutely love...call it my dessert love.

1 cup non-fat yogurt
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 cup thawed frozen blueberries No Sugar Added of course
1 oz mix nuts almond, walnut, pecan (sometimes just one type of nut)
1tsp flax meal

This is my favorite after workout meal. I am thinking about adding a little bit of shaved coconut after the coconut chicken I had today.
