It's just that the 1600mg you're counting is listed as omega 3 fat. That's where the confusion lies. So, ignore the 1600mg part altogether.

In the end, the goal is to just prescribe 1g of oil from fish per % body fat (up to 30g).
Wow, thanks John. You would think this would be easier for me

I didn't see the ingredients listed, so wasn't sure.

30g fish oil?!! are you sure?

I just happened across this info. 1 g. fish oil per percent bodyfat up to 30 g. is the recommendation. It's not adding up. Given your "easy chart", 2 T. fish oil, for someone with 30% bodyfat = approx. 9.5 g of fish oil (using carlson's). This appears to be 1/3 the amount recommended. Am I missing something?

Hey there, be sure to read the previous exchange between me and Dr. Berardi in this thread. I was confused as well, but he breaks it down.

Wow... I guess you, Mark, know how I feel. BUT, I'm glad I asked as, until I got your reply I was yet wondering. However I get it now!

Thank you so much for taking your time to get me straight!

wait a second... it's weird to swallow over 20 pills at once? open wide! I guess it's not so bad anymore since I have been swallowing 10-20 fish oil pills at once since high school (10 year history).

I have no problem swallowing lots of pills/capsules daily. But my clients are not me. And this process isn't about what I would do. It's about what they would do. So, because most of them aren't used to swallowing pills, asking them to swallow 30 n day one presents a hurdle.

I know it's different for everyone. I have a difficult time convincing my girlfriend to swallow that often. Are there any techniques that are particularly effective? I really want to make sure she isn't nutritionally deficient.

I convinced my wife to try Carlson's fish oil in liquid form and sprinkle about 3gms at a time on her salad.
