Vitamin D Side Effects

Very bizzare. When I take Vitamin D, only 1000 IU I become quite constipated and bloated, and also notice a decrease in mood. My multi has 800IU (although in solid form) so I can't see how I'm possibly getting too much. Has anyone experienced this, or if not, have any guesses what it could possibly be?

My current supps are:

Pomology Mens Multi
EPA/DHA 3000mg
Turmeric

hey, Simon, I am currently taking 8,000IU of D and 20,000 mg of omega 3 and I am not having any symptoms. Could it be the brand of vitamin D that you are using? If it is not the brand, and you are sensitive to vitamin D in general, I would go to a health professional and get it figured out. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Could it have something to do with Cal/Mag status. I don't eat that much calcium (I cup yogurt a day).

Hmmm, that doesn't sound vitamin D related.

Are you taking any medications?

These might help:

Might want to chat with your doc/dietitian and get this figured out.

Just found this thread.....most likely it is your multi. I see it almost daily. :) Especially if the multivitamin is high in iron and other minerals.

Hmm. But why would it flare up when I start taking the D and go away when I end it. I stopped taking the D a few days ago and feel much better.

why not try it the other way around:

keep the D and drop the multi.

and as others have suggested make sure of the quality of the source of any of your sups.

best

brand is pretty incidental if you're talking about d.

if you get a company that's cGMP, you'll know what's in the tin is what's in the tin.

vegans and non will have different answers, but NOW is a good company that has both vegan and non-vegan sources of D.

One of the most common questions we get from Precision Nutrition readers is whether we can help them personally. The answer is usually no, and has been for some time. And the reason is simply that there are more people that need help than there are qualified coaches to help them.

But every now and again, we open up a few spots in our coaching programs, and we're now accepting people on the waiting list for our group coaching programs: Lean Eating for Men, and Lean Eating for Women.
