Note the 15g referred to by Dr. Berardi is just the total amount of liquid, not any portion such as total EPAs/DHAs etc. 1 tbsp = 15ml which = 15g.

OK. Now, I'm really confused.
A TBSP of Carlson's has 4800 mg of fish oil. Let's call it 5000mg or 5 grams. To me, that means a 30% BF client should take 6 TBSP per day. But your saying John isn't actually talking about grams of fish oil (as in dosage); he's talking about volume of fish oil to take. And, 1 TBSP is considered to be 15 grams. There's a big difference here. Which one is right. Should a 30% BF client be taking 6 TBSP or 2 TBSP during the 2-week loading phase? |

A tsp has 4g of fish oil, and 3 tsp= 1 TBSP... so 2 TBSP technically is 24g, but no need to bog most people down with taking an extra tsp. When working with clients, keep it simple as possible 2 TBSP/day would be the max if someone is 30% or greater |

Fish oil dosage incorrect
A tsp is not 4 gram of fish oil. How are you coming up with that number? Carlson's highest amount is 1600mg per tsp. Which is how the person asking the questions came up with 1TBS is 4800mg or 4.8 grams. 1tsp x 3= 4800 or she rounded to 5g. Very confusing! I agree with the person asking the questions. It would be 3TBS which sounds way above normal. Help please.

I thought omega-3 oil in bottles were better because of the quality...
Well, I just did the count on Omega-3 oil to see what is cheapest and softgels capsules beat liquid oil 2 to 1 in terms of their prices. I can get 30 grams of fish oil per dollar if I go with a popular brand of softgels versus only 12.3grams per dollar for the liquid oil. Verdict: I'm going back to softgels, there's enough stuff to pay for in life already :D. Thanks for the info John. |
