Informal Experiments: Free Warm-Up Program From PN

One thing's for sure: your warm-up probably shouldn't involve matching father-son warm-up suits.
If you’re anything like me, after weeks of following your workout routine perfectly, you start “editing” your workout. You know, you start throwing out things that aren’t really important. Of course, the first or second thing that goes is what? That’s right, the warm-up.
You want to lose weight/gain muscle fast! So, you think, why bother warming up? You don’t have any injuries – at least not yet – and you’re willing to take your chances. After all, some people bungee jump for thrills. You, all you’re doing is skipping the warm-up.
But are you making a big mistake? Will your strength suffer if you don’t warm up? And what about muscle balance and injury prevention?
In this study, we’re going to find out: can a proper warm-up give you a significantly better workout?
The warm-up study
To answer this question, we’re looking for 40 active men and women. We need them for 2 weeks. To participate, you must be healthy, injury free and currently on a weight training program.
We’ll ask you to test your strength – 3 times in 2 weeks. So, you’ll need access to a spotter, a bench and a barbell. If you’ve got all that and decide to participate, we’ll give you a couple of warm-up protocols, each of which you’ll test out for their impact on your strength.
The details
You are eligible to participate in this experiment if:
- You are able to measure your bench press strength (3 rep max) 3 times over a two week period.
- You are currently on a weight training program.
- You have bench pressed in the last 3 months.
- You have access to a spotter and a bench press.
You are not eligible to participate if:
- You intend on changing your diet or training program in any significant way during the course of this project.
- You have any sort of injury.
- You’re unfamiliar with proper bench press form.
Where to begin
We need all 40 men and women signed up by November 28th at the latest. It’s easy to sign up. Simply e-mail us at research@precisionnutrition.com.

- Your mailing address
