Informal Experiments: Get More Free Supplements

popeyolivecan1 222x300 Informal Experiments: Get More Free Supplements

We'd try this supplement, but the can's from 1979. Also, it contains cardboard action figures.

We’re looking for 60 men and women to participate in a really cool research project we’ve got going on. If you live in the US or Canada and are willing to participate, read on…

The details

This informal experiment will examine the effect of a specific nutritional supplement on the body’s pH. With respect to the supplement, it’s been designed to increase dietary alkalinity and therefore would help balance out your dietary acids if it works.

Further this study will investigate whether or not being a “bitter taster” (i.e. having the ability to taste certain bitter compounds in fruits and veggies) is correlated with the body’s pH as “tasters” may eat fewer fruits and vegetables than “non-tasters”.

If you’d like to learn more about the importance of dietary acid/base balance, click here.

(And yes, clever readers may note that this is similar to the last Informal Experiment involving greens and pH. It’s close, but not exactly the same.)

You are eligible to participate if:

  • You live in the US or Canada
  • You are able to measure your urinary pH every day for 3 weeks straight
  • You are able to record urinary pH and are willing to send the data to us at the end of each week

You are NOT eligible to participate if:

  • You participated in the first greens trial
  • You are currently taking any greens or other acid/base supplements
  • You are currently on any prescription meds
  • You are currently suffering from diabetes, cancer, and/or heart disease
  • You are allergic to bees or any bee products
  • You intend to change your diet or training program in any significant way during the course of this project

The supplement

This supplement — which will remain anonymous throughout the course of the project — is a commercially available greens product.

It has been proven safe and effective in numerous trials. However, because we need to keep the research unbiased, we can’t tell you which brand it is.

What we can tell you is this: Should you participate in the project, we’ll mail you all the supplements you need for the protocol, free of charge.

Timeline

We need all 60 men and women December 31st at the latest.

Once we have complete enrollment, we’ll let you know further details.  Then, we’ll send out the free supplements, the pH test strips and genetic testing strips.

We’ll start the official measurement period sometime in early 09.

Risks

There are minimal risks associated with participating in this project. The pH measuring strategy poses no problems. And the supplement, as indicated, is commercially available, tested safe, and widely used.

However, as noted above, if you are allergic to bee products, you should avoid participating in this trial.

Benefits

Participating benefits you in several ways:

  • First, you get free supplements. (Woo!)
  • Second, you get to test your own acid/base status.
  • Third, you get to take a supplement designed to improve your acid base status.
  • Next, you get to know whether you’re a “bitter taster” or not.
  • Finally, you get to contribute to the body of knowledge out there about improving acid/base status.

How to get involved

So, if you meet the criteria above and you’re interested in participating, here’s what I need you to do:
Email us at research@precisionnutrition.com. This is how you can let us know you’re in.

In your email, please tell us the following:

  1. Your full name
  2. Which experiment you want to participate in
  3. Your full address
  4. Confirmation that you’ve read the criteria above and are 100% eligible to participate

Please note: we’ll be contacting all applicants in early 09, after all responses are received.
